Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2023)

A Technicolor Triumph: The Sold-Out Phenomenon

In July 2023, Full House Theatre Productions "warmed up" the Pretoria winter with its most ambitious and successful staging to date. This production marked a historic milestone for the company: our first collaboration with a national star. The incomparable Willem Botha—famed for Liefling, Pretville, and Afrikaans Idols—made his Andrew Lloyd Webber debut in the title role of Joseph.

The result? A high-octane, dazzling spectacle that captured the hearts of Pretoria, resulting in a completely sold-out run at the Afriforum Theatre. Willem's magnetic performance was bolstered by an elite ensemble of Pretoria’s finest stage talent, creating a synergy that set a new benchmark for our company’s production value. A reimagining of the Biblical story of Jacob and his twelve sons, Joseph is a kaleidoscope of musical styles and infectious energy. From the country-western twang of "One More Angel in Heaven" to the iconic "Any Dream Will Do" and the soul-stirring "Close Every Door," our production was a magical journey of dreams, betrayal, and ultimate redemption.
